How to reset your Windows Phone ( Soft Reset & Hard Reset )

Usually you will never face any issues with Windows Phone 8, but there may be some instances when your phone stop working  or does not switch on, app crashes, or any other problems.

In such cases, you can try out Soft reset and if nothing works out, you can try hard reset.

Soft Reset ( Restart your phone. )

It is useful if your phone is not booting or crashed while working!

A soft reset will clear memory and terminate all your apps. Nothing will be deleted or changed so all your files and apps will still be present.



Note: This does not reset your Microsoft Account (Windows Live) ID or remove any personal data.

1.Switch your phone on, if possible, and disconnect the charger.
2.Press and hold the power and volume down keys simultaneously until the phone vibrates.

3.Release and the phone restarts.

Hard Reset

If you’re planning to pass your phone to someone else or your phone has a persistent problem that cannot be solved, You can perform a factory reset ( Also called a Hard rest )

Note:- It will permanently delete all your data and customized settings and will remove any apps you have downloaded and installed so Make sure to carry out a backup your phone before you perform hard reset

Performing a factory rest via Settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the settings.
On the Start screen, slide to the left.
Tap Settings > about.
Tap reset your phone, and then tap yes.




Performing a factory reset via Buttons
If you are not able to turn on your phone or access settings, you can perform a factory reset by using the phones buttons

You can perform this by pressing the volume down + power + camera buttons together until the phone vibrates, then release the power button only and hold the other buttons down for another five seconds or so, then release all the buttons.

HTC

1)Turn the power off.
2)Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 3)Release the VOLUME DOWN button when you see an icon on the screen.
4)Then press the following hardware buttons in sequence: VOLUME UP > VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN.
